Your feet are perfectly designed to be breeding grounds for fungi. Ironically, this is particularly true if your lifestyle includes healthy exercise that starts and ends in communal showers or dressing rooms. The warmth and dampness of such environments foster growth of fungus, which can climb into the homey shelter of passerby’s toes with little encouragement. However, anyone who automatically assumes that a case of itching, inflamed feet is athlete’s foot could be making a mistake. Conditions that mimic the symptoms of athlete’s foot include disturbances of the sweat mechanism, allergic reaction to dyes or materials of foot coverings, eczema and psoriasis.

P.S. See a podiatrist if an apparent fungus condition persists after two weeks of careful personal hygiene and self care.
